DESCRIPTION

Sony's most unusual release for 2008 is, on the surface, a platform title starring a stitched burlap doll called Sackboy. Yet beneath its whimsical exterior lies a robust editing tool that allows owners to create, save, and share custom levels. You are introduced to LittleBigPlanet through a campaign simply entitled "Play." This mode features an interactive tutorial and a series of offbeat levels where you'll be able to drive vehicles, activate switches, avoid hazards, solve puzzles, and defeat boss characters. By collecting orbs throughout each level, you'll earn various items, accessories, and stickers to help personalize the game to your liking.

The other two modes are arguably the heart and soul of LittleBigPlanet: "Create" and "Share." You can cobble together levels filled with an assortment of objects, platforms, dangers, triggers, and other surprises. Tools to create more exotic stages are unlocked by completing the tutorial, and other useful items will become available while advancing through the main campaign. Up to three custom levels can be published to the online community, who will rate and rank your creations. Those who deliver exciting content will be allowed to publish more levels, but there are no restrictions on the stages you create for friends. “@Nidrew I loved the movies, so that's good for me. But you don't have to buy it just to play them, the only reason you'd need to buy is if you were going to use the objects/stickers/materials and water in your own levels.”

“@Nidrew You get the new levels by going to the MY CONTENT section of the play moon. In there you will find all of the downloaded content you've purchased for the game. In there will be the POTC level pack if you've purchased it.”

“@Nidrew - you do if you wanna play them on your own, or build levels using the new matterials/objects from the new pack. But if you have a friend who bought the new pack you can be dragged along with them through the pirate levels without having purchased the content. However, you WON'T receive any of the objects, costumes, or stickers picked up from the prize bubbles (or earn any of the new trophies), unless you buy the pack too.”

“@Nidrew You can play any levels people have made with Water on the community stages without the update, but as fnook said, you can't play the official levels included in the pack unless you play co-op with someone who has them.

The levels aren't really heavily based on the movies, but theyre not amazing either. The water is a great tool, but if you're not a level builder you'll probably be better off sticking to the community levels for free.”

“Well the wife is a big fan of those movies so I might get the packs for her. I want to make lvls but have never gotten around to it. I always start making stuff without a plan and it never seems to work outl. I need to get my ideas down on paper and maybe that will translate to a workable lvl.”

“@Nidrew Getting your ideas down on paper before you start is most definitely the way to go, it makes creation a lot smoother and quicker. The only reason I go into create mode without a plan is to fool around.”
