DESCRIPTION

In earlier Sims games, players interact with a household of virtual computer people. In The Sims 3, players interact with an entire neighborhood. Instead of playing each family discretely on its individual lot, players can now take their characters anywhere in town — to a friend's house, out to a restaurant, to a favorite park, or even to work. No matter which Sim the player is currently following, however, all the characters in the neighborhood are active whenever the game is being played. Events that take place on the other side of town can have an effect on situations all across the neighborhood, just as the player's characters may influence the rest of the community with their actions (or inaction). Sims are now quick to pull out their mobile phones and keep one another informed, even if only about the latest gossip.

The Create-A-Sim system in the Sims 3 refines the powerful tools featured in the Sims 2. Players have much more finely graduated control over many physical aspects of the characters they create. For example, a slider allows a choice of any size and shape between rail-thin and very overweight, instead of offering only three set body types, and a second slider controls the character's muscularity. To a greater degree than the previous game's character editor, the new tools give players the power to create recognizable Sim versions of people they know (or would like to know). Sims personalities are now determined by up to five distinguishing traits, such as "hot headed," "conversationalist," "clumsy," "great cook," "slob," "good sense of humor," and even "neurotic" or "paranoid." Players can choose from more than 60 available traits when they create each new Sim.

As in earlier Sims games, players are free to make use of the built-in houses that come with the game, customize them however they see fit (and have the Simloeons to afford), or tear them down completely and build their own from scratch. The build mode offers players more customization as well, with a smaller grid from more precise placements, and the ability to rotate most objects to any angle. Stores, services, and places of work for the game's 12 career paths are all available throughout the neighborhood. Players can't enter these buildings to watch a favorite Sim at work, but they can follow him there, and then back home again when his shift is done. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide

The Sims is published by Electronic Arts.
Electronic Arts also publish Rock Band games.
Electronic Arts recently published Rock Band: The Beatles.
Now, these sims are fed up with the publicity that game got, so they are protesting against The Beatles.
But they are silly indeed, The Beatles broke up a long time ago! They should protest against Electronic Arts! :D

“No, that's the back of the TV with the big danger-high-voltage sign on it, and the line of vid and audio in/out ports behind it. And I like the glass walls. I notice the Sims 3's video-game controllers look much more ergonomically plausible than the ones my Sims 2 sims have to use.

“The female sim is modeled after me, down to the looks and personality. She's a young adult, and her qualities are as follows: Absent-minded, Excitable, Flirty, Good sense of humor and Neat. She's wearing an outfit I actually have (pretty much) and its in blue (my favorite color). Granted I live in a condo, and not the glass walled little three-storey palace she has, but all of the other parts are as close to real life as I could get it.”

2: Glass can get very cold or very hot depending on the weather. Just hope your sim doesn't die in extreme weather lol.

“The base game of Sims 2 has all year nice weather, but the Season's expansion added, well, seasons. As for the Sims 3, I'm actually curious about that too. As far a glass walls letting the neighbors see in, thats what landscaping is for, as far as weather goes, don't live in places where it gets unduly cold. i.e. below 70 F.”

“I think seasons will come - as always the Sims has started with the basics and will build up to Pets, Seasons and strange fantasy creatures. It's a shame they have to take out so much, the Sims 3 feels far too bare to me at the moment (my friend has the Sims 2 plus every expansion/download, so I'm used to a vast selection).

I do like the new tools, though - such as applying any design to any object. I just miss my vampire girl :(”

“Sims 3 has a game launcher so when you open the game you're directed to the community online first. There you can download free or purchase for $$$ new items, households, buildings, and other patterns and skins for your sims and all their various trappings. No online gameplay yet, though I feel its only a matter of time until the sims MMO”

“I'm not sure how that would work, since you don't really play as a particular sim. In particular, I generally let my sims do what they want to only interfering to help them achieve a want that they're not capable of fulfilling on their own. For instance, if a sim want's to have a party, in Sims 2 at least, the player must click on the phone and choose the "throw party" option, the sim cannot do that for themselves.

I guess you could have an on-line neighborhood made up of all players families, but what would happen if your sim and mine fell in love, I guess that would be how guilds formed, through sim marriage. Call them families rather than guilds, but who owns the offspring of the marriage? It would be a very different experience from other MMOs, IMHO.”

“The Sims 3 doesn't bring a lot of changes except the merged City and Home which should have been that way since the beginning. Home and Sim creation hasn't changed a lot. But it is still a good game and worth a playing (but maybe not a buy).”
